Subject: Heroes Hockey Challenge

Re: Invite from Colonel David J. Anderson, MSM, CD

To all my fellow Brothers,

Last Thursday & Friday evening, Jan 26th & 27th 2012 some of us CAV members were very fortunate enough to use with great pride tickets to both “The Heroes Hockey Challenge, Hockey game on Thursday Jan 26th 2012 and the very prestige Heroes Hockey Challenge Gala (Mess Dinner)” paid for by Sport Check and forwarded to our Units through, Caveman (Bruce) of Ypres Unit, who in turn received them from Ubique Unit, Chilliwack, BC. Thanks to Caveman and Ubique Unit. With out a doubt I had a super great time, as I am sure all the fellow CAV members in attendance did. Let me tell you we had a great presence from The 3rd CAV. The following Units had representation at this wonderful event; Coriano Ridge, Ypres , and Kosovo. Kosovo Unit was very much honored to have the offering and ability to have 5 (five) of our Unit members in attendance. Our CAV Vests were worn and displayed with great pride from the Hockey game in the Saddle Dome, to the Gala Event in the Telus Convention Center. I have seen that on Facebook is some photos of the Gala event with our members.

We were all accepted with pride and honor from many of the folks. There were Dignitaries from the Lt Gen of Alberta all the way through to Canadian Forces Generals, Colonel(s) down to the Private. Wives, girlfriends, yes husbands and boyfriends of solders. What an honor to be invited to attend and be amongst these Heroes. I did as I am sure all of us CAV members had the opportunity to chat with most people in attendance, and if not we chose not to because we were so busy with other Heroes. The folks were so open and friendly to each and every one of us CAV members. Thanks to everyone for this wonderful opportunity.

During one of my discussions, which was within 15 minuets of us CAV members arriving I had the great pleasure to meet with and chat with Colonel David J. Anderson, MSM, CD. Regimental Colonel Princes Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). During our chat that allowed me about 10 minuets of his time one to one the Colonel asked me about “The CAV” with full interest. He was a motorcycle rider and planned on buying a new ride soon. He had also seen us riding around displaying our Crest with pride. After explaining what we were all about and him passing onto me his business card, the Colonel explained that there was a reason that he came to chat. First we were all Veteran members of the Canadian Forces whom he could not pass up the opportunity to meet and thank for our time and service then the second reason, it was not announced public as of that date, but the Col was being promoted and going to Edmonton to be commander of the Land Forces Western Area. The Colonel showed deep curiosity in setting up a ride for only serving members this summer. The ride would be from Edmonton to Wainwright AB. The idea or concept would be to charge a $20.00 fee to join the ride then all the proceeds would go to Veterans Organizations. The second year he would like to open this to the Veteran riding groups as well. The Colonel then explained he would be very interested in having the CAV help him put together this event, using his business card information to pass onto a contact. I explained that I would pass this onto 3rd CAV President Kaiser for his consideration of passing on to Iron Mike President of Frezenberg Unit who in turn would contact the Colonel, to offer their and the CAVs help. Of course I do understand this would be with the blessings of all from Trapper our National President down to Iron Mikes Frezenberg Unit and their desire to get involved. I do have the Colonels information and if it is to be passed on to Iron Mike, Please have him send me an e-mail and in turn I will forward this to him.

Thanks for your time reading this lengthy letter. I just thought it was important to thank all involved for allowing us such a great opportunity and for passing on some perspective adventures to get the CAV involved in.

Sincerely,

Radar (Jerry G Hart)

Hi All

Everything is going well in 3rd CAV with planning and coordinating rides and events, demonstrating the units goals and achievements.

With the winter season escalating the PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) we all tend to forget we are all here to ride and have fun and support each other, therefore with the weather changing and warming up so starts of the new year. I just wanted to re-emphasize the goals and directions as I see it as we grow and build the positive energies all the units demonstrates what we can accomplish on a daily basis. Thus as we gear up for the season ahead please pass my thoughts to the members and check out the3rd CAV web site for the poster on this year’s 3rd CAV gathering.

Have Fun all and I hope to see as many of you on the road or at the gathering as possible.

3rd CAV 2012 Presidential Address

As another Riding season approaches I just want to emphasize the Ideals and philosophy of the CAV as I see it ” Ride, Have Fun, and support one another “with the understanding that Family comes first, then the Job that supports them, then the CAV.

There isn’t anywhere in the constitution that places one unit ahead of another or for that matter one formation in front of another. The philosophy is that “the CAV” is one entity, with individual units allowed to run their units in the direction that the membership wants to take them, as long as that direction remains within the constitution.  From doing weekend rides to supporting charities and helping veterans and the community at large.

The CAV is all of us.  There is no distinction from town to town, province to province or formation to formation.  Each individual member enjoys the same rights and privileges as any other.   By maintaining these ideals we can never engage in empire building, exclusion or animosity toward any other units for the outstanding Positive energy and all they have accomplished.  I believe and have always maintained that there can be no such thing as a spy in the CAV, because we are all CAV, with one goal and one mission.

CAV events and meetings should be open to any CAV member that would like to attend.  This gives all of the CAV the opportunity to see and learn from their brother units, how things are being done and where their positive energies are being directed.  CAV members visiting another unit will understand, of course, that they are guests.  They will not vote or disrupt the proceedings and thus, as guests should be welcomed with open arms and treated with all due hospitality.   This holds true with events as well, especially ones with regional or national scope. For example if unit A organizes an event and Units B,C,D are in the area they should be given the opportunity to join in with a “the more the merrier” approach.  If there is space allotted only for a certain or specific amount of bikes, it would look even more impressive if the other units were to have the opportunity to participate to show the breadth and strength of the CAV by having as many unit flags flying as possible. Every unit across the country can and does these things with in their own flair and within the CAV policies and procedures governing their members as the membership allows with the understanding that as a voluntary riding organization we are here to support and enjoy the comradeship of our fellow veterans who share the love of motorcycles and riding.

It was My Honour in these last hours to Stand up our ''CAV/VAC National Operations Unit'' in London Ontario !!

In Our CAV/VAC Constitution we assure our Membership that No One 'Must' do Charitable work's..

BUT-As CAV /VAC Leadership-We MUST Make available all Tool's Available for Charitable Work's to those of our Members wishing to Make Positive Change in thier Communitys by directly supporting our Military, our Nation or our Community's..

I do Not Need to Remind Our CAV/VAC Leadership that Charity Begin's at Home But end's wherever our Mission Takes us!

AND The Incredible Victorys against Darkness that our CAV Family can achieve-Through Continueing Service to our Country !

VETERAN AND VETERAN SUPPORTER UNITED !!

Our Riders Understand well - that they can choose 'Simple CAV Riding' without fundraising being involved-and we will Always promote these Powerful energys!

EVERY TIME Our Individual or Collective CAV/VAC Time is Focused on Good Times of ALL Types-Our CAV Membership Win's !!!

In 8 Seasons with our Mission of  'Ride and Have Fun While Helping Others' using ''Strength and Honour'' as our Motto, we have learned over and over again the Lessons of how to 'run' a simple easy 'Hotdog Ride'-When a donated box of Bun's and Beef alongside a sunny blast along a scenic route end's by passing the Hat-a moment that Can raise crucial funds to be donated to any cause we see in our Community-

-Right up to 'How to Run a Motorcycle Show' with vendor's, custom bikes and an entire community involved in raising fund's for any one of a dozen need's in our Comminity, Nationaly of Internationally!

I Have Appointed Drifter, now 'Past' 1st CAV Formation President, who with his powerhouse 'Shadow' at his side, a team who have done EVERYTHING we experience in CAV-Will now gather our Staffer's of the Many diverse CAV Initiatives-Under one 'Unit'-Our Natioanl CAV/VAC Operations Unit..

In his role as National VP- Buddha will be the Direct contact for me in any 'National President required' issues relating to this Operations Unit, Buddha being Drifter and the Operation's Unit ''Hammer'' if National Emphasis is ever needed to propel CAV Initiatives..

AS WELL AS LAY OUT the actual CAV History of association, daily operations in conducting event's-from 'soup to nut's' as each OPI for each Energy-Has established thier protocal's in making each and every CAV Supported Event-A Success !

Everything from Lesson's learned in attaining donations electronicly by preregistartion, Use of our National CAV /VAC Kitshop in gathering supplies to sell as fundraiser/Pin or Tshirt 'Event' item's, to how physically a 'Ride' is handled- from a Safety breifing on ride day to execution and conclusion- using Any Rescource presently available trhough our Private Members area-Our Memorys or outside rescources- Especially Tapping into our ''CAV Riders Handbook'' and 'CAV Bike Show Manual', and the Thousands of Lessons we have Learnt to ''Be CAV/VAC''-Until Now-Only Known to key folks..

I have been Loudly proclaiming for years, that ALL CAV have the opportunity to partake of our CAV Experiences in making a difference in each members community-But-Till Now-Ive been seeing a key few powerful CAV Leaders taking up the Challenge-With thier outreach limited to physical connections only available to a few..

NOW, With the CAV/VAC Operations Unit-Lead by Drifter, supported by Shadow and the Incredible OPI's of -

Hello CAV!!!

Here it is !   The final decision on the Navy Crest-- attached is a photo of the final draft....  Fitter is ready to now place an order for the NAVY CREST---we will start with the bare minimum...so Here's what I need to ensure everyone gets what they want.

1.   Please poll your units and see who wants to purchase this as a 2nd or replacement crest---cost   $30.00

2.  Please send me your list  identifying  WHO WHAT + WHERE
  a)   Who wants the crest
  b)   What type---VET or SUPPORTER  AND  English or French
  c)  Where should it be sent--UNIT NAME

3.  Until the application is changed to include the Navy--please identify it as black on the new applications-- ( I went with colours as people who were airforce didn't necessarily want the blue crest--so I found it easier to determine which crest to send based on colour selected)

Once we have an accurate # of those choosing purchase the Navy (Black|) crest fitter can place an order...the sooner #'s come in --the sooner it'll be available.!

discount offer

To all of the folks listed on here. CAV has scored another discount. Read the message below, and Klaus with your blessings can we get this put onto 3rd CAV web page and where ever else you might find it appropriate. This is for the studies to be done in Calgary, however it is good for any Vet, or serving military member and or their family members, no matter where they live in Canada. But once again they must come or be here in Calgary to do the course.

Mouse once Klaus approves this can you do the dirty deed and post for us? For everyone else this is info only. Might be a good time to get family members on the road to riding. I would but all my children and their spouses ride, as does She Wolf.

Cheers Brothers and Sister.

From Trapper;      (posted on the 27th Sep 2010)

It’s that time of Year when days grow Shorter and Nights Longer..

A Good time to Enjoy the Seasons Harvest and Changes prior to the Winters 'Rest'..

At National- We Do Not Rest !!

Reason being, that MANY Year's ago we learned the simple truth-

-That the winter Period was Golden in Achieving contacts and Coord that if upcoming projects, finished all Coord in Winter-

-that it Paid off GREAT Success in the Following Riding Season..

Take renewal's..Its that time of Year when less and less Riders are able to attend CAV/VAC Functions-Due to Family, Job and Harvest-and of Course Weather and Day lengths-Getting more of us away from a ''CAV/VAC Frame of Mind'...

Times past we'd ''Catch up'' to a member in the spring-But Now-Due to our National Insurance Policy-WE MUST HAVE ALL RENEWALS IN HAND AND PROCESSED PRIOR TO THE 'Pin Issue' date's-Needed to supply our 59 Units Nation Wide..

The CAV/VAC Has Issued CAV Identity to Thousands in well over 59 citys in the last 8 years..As our CAV/VAC Family grows out of its 'Pioneering phase'-we now attract MANY OLD Members home-AND Unite with MANY NEW Members..ALL NEEDING CURRENT AND UP TO DATE CAV/VAC Memberships completed..

Ive Just completed my 4th Year in a row of Riding from Canada 's central 1st CAV Formation, out to 2nd CAV's Newfoundland Island paradise, Then ridden across Canada to The 3rd CAV's Pacific Ocean-Then Back to Atlantic Canada-Doing Proud CAV/VAC Outreach EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY !!

Lately Ive ridden Proudly over 180,000 kms on the Green Phoenix-Watching CAV/VAC Family gather-Across our Country, then witnessed YOUR Strength and Honour!!

Ive broken bread with many of You, Ive slept in your Homes-Met your Familys and Importantly-Seen and Enjoyed Your Riding adventures-Tasting Many Victorys !!

Ive stood at Your Sides as Newfoundland Showed its Heart, as Every Unit, Every Rider, Province to Province,West to the Pacific -all then tried to outdo each past success..Achieving that goal !

We are on the right path-a path that our nation can point at PROUDLY Saying-Thats The '' CAV/VAC WAY !!!''

So Here we are Once again...What is involved in Renewing?

A Commitment to our Mission like always-AND A Renewal system that is Fair and EQUAL-Nation Wide !!

Thats it-Thats ALL !

ALL Renewals-

-AS with ALL NEW MEMBERS-

**MUST REREAD THE CONSTITUTION,

must sign in front of unit exec's-The CAV/VAC Strength and Honour Contract..

A SIMPLE ACT OF FAITH-SAYING ALOUD-that we will always do our best to bring our best-to the 'CAV/VAC TABLE'..

-and then we simply have Unit Exec's send all needed info and due's to Formation and our National Membership Chair-Who reach out to ALL National Family Members...

Its Easy to take the Physical Steps..How about the Mental step..What Commitment is needed?

I and many CAV have laughingly listened in as ''EX CAV'' People have publicly stated -In order to poison others,

''Dont Join the CAV-Thier Strength and Honour Contract signs over YOUR BIKE TO THEM ''!!

Ive seen, as have you-'Ex CAV' Show us thier True Path by convincing others -using our own mailing lists, weaker CAV Folks -to leave CAV..

We've seen them take CAV Hard Earned Ride events 'away' from Us-

- When all they are doing is showing others-What path THEY ARE ON-

We of the CAV see this energy for what it is-Simple proof of others mission and energy-When the truth is-We of the CAV Dont take anything from others-We Leave Positive energys...

We of the CAV dont care whats on your back, theres room for EVERYONES STYLE--its what's in your heart that matters!!

If someone 'Takes' a CAV Initiative from us-They are simply showing thier weakness in Not being able to create thier own initiatives.. Rather than feel anger at them-We should pity thier weakness..

Our Strength is in Creating Positive Energy-Not in Taking,But From Giving !

By taking on our Direction, thier 'Doing the Work for us-We'll support anyone on the same path as us!

If they take our Direction-All we ask is that we're treated with Respect.

We Dont ever want to 'See CAV At the Front'-Who we WANT TO see at the Front-Is the Charity or Support Mission-NOT CAV!!

We of the CAV Are often Imitated-But Never equaled !

Our Summer saw us Standing Alongside Our CAV/VAC Honorary Riders in Chief Rick Hillier and Wayne Rostad..We Stood Beside MANY Returned Combat Vet's-AND Honoured Those of the Past !

It saw us lead events changing in a positive way-Well over 211 CAV Charity Support missions!

It saw us Leading Ride for Dad Support across Canada on thier 10th anniversary..

It saw us Riding down the Highway of Heroes many times-Either supporting our Military Comrades and their familys on their mission-or standing tall as the Family and freinds gather around the fallen..

Its seen our CAV/VAC Energy creating support energy to Handicapped Folks, Silver Cross Familys, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple S, Blind Children, Amputee Comrades-IN ADDITION To Ongoing Fisher House Support-ICROSS Support at our National CAV/VAC Rendevous-Or Tony Stacey Centre, or Rideau Perly Veterans Home-OR The Soldier On Program- plus the Many Related Initiatives we've Proudly taken on.!!

Sound Like a Lot ? Yes it Is-A Lot of Fun, Strength and Honour !!

Its Renewal Time.. What Commitment ??

Just to Follow the same Simple Positive Path we have ALWAYS Followed !

-Its Time to Show the Country, and yes-The World where we stand!

Our Military Members and Retired Soldiers Aircrew and Sailors-STANDING PROUDLY BESIDE OUR VETERAN SUPPORTERS-

Have shown our Country-The True Path that the CAV/VAC Family is on-

A Path of true Support to each other, Our Military and our Citizens!

Rather than  recycle other Organizations good idea's-

-WE CREATE OPPORTUNITYS!

Rather than stand around wasting time in Endless Parking Lots-WE RIDE ACROSS OUR NATION ENJOYING ITS FREEDOM !

Rather than keep lessons learned to our selves, grandstanding or Taking from our CAV Experience-

WE GIVE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT TAKING ANYTHING,

 BUT FUN AND PRIDE!!

The Past 8 Riding seasons have taught us Much-

-We Are now known as a Family who doesnt Suffer Fools..

-We're known as a Family that will give till it hurts to our Comrades,Up to the point where those we try to help, admit that thier not willing to help themselves.. Then we watch and wait-Hoping to be the strength for our Weaker Comrades when asked..

-We are known now for everyone doing thier Best!

CAV Vesting isnt just something bought-Its something earned and Kept !

Unlike a 'Poppy License Plate' thats paid for and forgotten-CAV Membership is respected and renewed Each Season !!

When we cant ride-We know that another CAV Member is riding for us,

If we're down and out-A CAV/VAC Comrade is there to do his or her best!

We are Now Known as being A Hard Riding Veteran Based Group-

With Proud Veteran Supporter's at Our Sides-

Riding , Having Fun, While Helping Others!

Our Motto -''Strength and Honour'',

the Strength to Get through EVERY Day-

- The Honour in 'Doing things' the BEST Way Possible..

How do you want to be seen?????

HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED ??????

Do You want to be seen as a 'Lone Wolf'-No Club..Then thats OK!

Do You want to be seen as a member of a Loose Knit riding club, A Mail Order Patch group?-Then thats Great !!

Do you feel a Harder Riding Living Style fits you-We'll introduce you to others like you!

Do You want to be seen as Riding Club member that cannot Think outside the box and needs to Step on others to achieve success?-Then thats Your Right !!

But-If YOU WANT TO BE SEEN AS A PROUD MEMBER Of our Nations Largest Organized- Greatly Successful'Mold Breaking' High Energy Positive Fraternity-Called ''The CAV/VAC'' -

-THEN RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP EARLY-STAND BY MY SIDE AND THE SIDES OF THE REAL Heroes of the CAV/VAC FAMILY!

Those who've tasted true Strength and Honour-and havent yet started to amaze our country !!!

French, English, Male, Female, Veteran or Supporter- On Every Brand of Bike-Riding for Each Other and Charity!

-A True Positive Canadian Family!

Renew Now !

Itll be a Great Step towards the Fantastic Historic 2011 Season!!
