3rd CAV Presidential Address 2013
As another Riding season approaches and 10 years of positive energies are promoted, 3rd CAV
has again proven their dedication and commitment to supporting one another and the community, with
initiatives and support directed in countless directions. I just want to emphasize the Ideals and philosophy
of the CAV as I see it” Ride, Have Fun, and support one another “with the understanding that Family
comes first, then the Job that supports them, then the CAV.
There isn’t anywhere in the constitution that places one unit ahead of another or for that matter
one formation in front of another. The philosophy is that “the CAV” is one entity, with individual units
allowed to run their units in the direction that the membership wants to take them, as long as that direction
remains within the constitution. From doing weekend rides to supporting charities and helping veterans
and the community at large.
The CAV is all of us. There is no distinction from town to town, province to province or
formation to formation. Each individual member enjoys the same rights and privileges as any other. By
maintaining these ideals we can never engage in empire building, exclusion or animosity toward any other
units for the outstanding Positive energy and all they have accomplished. I believe and have always
maintained one goal and one mission. Every unit across the country can accomplish a great many positive
initiatives and they do these things with their own flair within the CAV policies and procedures governing
their members as the membership allows. They all have the understanding that as a voluntary riding
organization we are here to support and enjoy the comradeship of our fellow veterans who share the love
of motorcycles and riding.
It is my pleasure to be part of this organization and I am proud to be able to brag about all the
accomplishments that each and every member has brought to the forefront for our veterans and their
The New Year is approaching and with it many new expectations and great accomplishments to
come. In closing I would like to say “Ride, Have Fun and Support each other” and I am looking forward
to meeting and riding with you in the coming year and hope to see you all at the 3rd CAV gathering in the
Lower Mainland BC in Mid-August 2013 or the 10th Anniversary CAV AGM with all three formations
meeting in Red Deer AB for the August Long weekend.
